The finished pieces are solid and substantial, with embedded hanging hardware for secure wall display. Final details—including gold paint, moss. dried flowers, and gold leaf—are applied by hand, with close attention to balance, texture, and longevity.

Christina Amato is an Assistant Book Conservator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Previously, she worked and interned at many notable institutions including the The Met’s Department of Drawings and Prints, the Watson Library’s Sherman Fairchild Center for Book Conservation, the Weissman Center at Harvard University, the Folger Shakespeare Library, the New York Academy of Medicine, and the New York Society Library. Christina holds a BA in Studio Art from Bard College and a diploma in Bookbinding from the North Bennett Street School. Christina owns and operates Richly Strange where she creates one-of-a-kind handmade treasures to adorn your home.
